Technical description
The spiral conveyor: elevation gain in a small footprint
Spiral conveyors solve one of the most common problems in production line design: transporting products between different levels when floor space is limited. The helical route concentrates vertically a belt length that, in a classic inclined conveyor, would take up a considerable area in plan.
They are used most often in warehouses, distribution centres and e-commerce, where they connect floors or mezzanines and move boxes and parcels between levels without taking up floor space. We make them with a plastic modular belt, with a slat chain for products with a rigid base or as a gravity roller spiral for parcels. For applications where the spiral has a process role — cooling or conditioning products in-flow — we make spiral cooling systems, a distinct piece of equipment.
